James Lester Tuel, Sr., 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away October 23, 2018. He was born on September 27, 1935 in Kennett Square, PA to George and Annie (Burke) Tuel. He grew up working hard on a farm in Westtown, PA. He graduated in 1954 from West Chester Jr. Sr. High School. He was the husband of Frances Edna (Werts) Tuel, whom he married on March 9, 1957. Jim served in the United States Army in the late 50's and then served six years in the National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1964. He was then employed by General Electric in Philadelphia for 20 years as an aerospace technician. In 1977, Jim and Fran bought Packie's Bakery in Cumberland, MD and entered the retail baking business. Retirement came in 2001 with a move to Chambersburg, PA. Jim's favorite pasttime was spending many happy hours with his adoring family and trusted dog, Greta. He loved caring for his lawn/garden and worked on many home improvement and woodworking projects. Jim was an avid baseball fan and loved the Philadelphia Phillies all of his life. He was also a dedicated volunteer in the Chambersburg community, helping with meals on wheels and food boxes. He also was a volunteer with the Red Cross. Jim is survived by his wife and his two children; Brenda E. (wife of Charles) Resh of Mercersburg and James L. (husband of Tina) Tuel Jr. of Slippery Rock, PA. He has seven grandchildren: Billy, Alicia, Stacey, Autumn, Will, Hannah, Christopher and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Hunter. He is also survived by a brother, and was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday Nov. 3, 2018 at 1:30 at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Dear Tuel Family~ We are saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I worked with "Baker Jim" some years ago, and he was a delight to be around. He wasn't just a great co-worker, but he also went out of his way to help people. Although I had not seen him in quite awhile, I would think of him from time to time, and remember how kind he was. Please know that he left a lasting impression on those who were lucky enough to know him, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Amy & Will Weber
