Betty R. Geist Obituary

Betty R. Geist, 89, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away September 14, 2025 at the home of her daughter, who she’s resided with for the past 8 years. She was born February 7, 1936  in Lebanon, PA, the daughter of Leroy and Edna (Rhine) Thierwechter. Betty was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher at one time. She retired from Mennohaven as an Activities Assistant. Betty loved traveling, camping, and boating, and enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities. 

 

Betty is survived by three children, Barry Geist and wife Virginia of Scotland, Randy Geist and wife Bonnie of Upper Strasburg, and Lori Hammond and husband Mark of Chambersburg; and five grandchildren, Ian Hammond and wife Nora, Aubrey Fox and husband Kyle, Garett Hammond and wife Shelby, Jennifer Peters and husband Kip, Heather Geist, Anne Goshorn; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kaiya, Khloe, Brylee, Bryce, Parker, Brooks, Reed and Hayden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William R. “Bill” Geist; two sons; a grandson; a great-granddaughter, and three brothers.

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg with Pastor Christopher Frye officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Norland Cemetery.
