Betty Lou (Dixon) Kriner

Betty Lou Dixon Kriner, 95, passed away at Menno Haven Brookview November 7, 2024.  Born October 27, 1929 in Fort Loudon, she was the daughter of the late William “Billie” Dixon and Mary (Gress) Dixon.  She was married to Robert E. Kriner, who died December 3, 1998.

Betty graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1947.  She and her husband Robert  “Bobbie” E. Kriner owned and operated Bingham’s Orchards and Fruit Market, which she continued to operate after her husband’s death until 2005.  She also owned and operated Mt. Parnell Antiques. Betty and Bobbie loved antiquing and finding treasures to sell in their shop.

In her spare time Betty enjoyed painting, putting puzzles together, reading, and traveling.  She also loved shopping with her girlhood friend, Edie Row.  Betty cared about animals and had a variety of pets.   She and her husband loved to dance and traveled throughout the United States and Europe.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of St. Thomas, a member and past President of the Dietrich Brechbill Post 612 American Legion Auxiliary of St. Thomas, a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Chambersburg, and a member of Norland AARP #3261.  Betty was patriotic, loved America, and voted in every election.

Betty treasured spending time with her family.  She  is survived by her daughter, Martina Fegan and her husband James, Chambersburg, and two sons, Douglas Kriner and his wife Angela, Pensacola, Florida, and William E. Kriner and wife Tammy, St. Thomas.  She has five grandchildren: Timothy D. Kriner and wife Jodi;  Jennifer Andersen and husband Adam, Hollywood, Maryland;  Annisa Meyers, and  husband Cory, Chambersburg;  Mary Rebecca “Becky” Leonard and husband Barry, Chambersburg; and Katyln Byers and husband Rodney, St. Thomas. Betty also has twelve great-grandchildren: Aidan, Ryan, Karianna, and Jayce Andersen, Maryland; Sasha, Clara, Dixon, and Tessa Meyers, Chambersburg, Emerson and Camden Leonard, Chambersburg, and Wyatt and Jacob Byers, St. Thomas.

Burial will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of St. Thomas or Better Days Animal League, Shippensburg.
