Betty Howsare Mehaffey, 93, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away June 4, 2022 at Luther Ridge Personal Care.  She was born on May 6, 1929  in Rainsburg, Pennsylvania  to William  and Beatrice  (Brant) Howsare.  She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg  for many years.  She had worked at the Stanley Company and in her later years she had worked part-time at Wilson College.  She loved playing bingo and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels from her enclosed porch at her home.
     She is survived by her daughter, Tena (wife of Joel) Keeney of Chambersburg and one granddaughter, Jessica (wife of Josh) Murray of Chambersburg.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Fumie Mehaffey of Chambersburg.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Mehaffey Jr. and her son, Terry Mehaffey.   She is  also preceded in death by six sisters:  Melissa McElfesh, Carrie Leasure, Gladys Bozych, Ada Morgan, Nellie Ryan, and Ethel Carbaugh and seven brothers; Tom, Dewey, William, Harold, Carl, Robert, and Earl Howsare.
     Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to St. John's United Church of Christ, 1811 L. W. E., Chambersburg, PA 17202 and also to Spiritrust Lutheran Personal Care Residence, 2735 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA., 17202.  Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg has been entrusted with conducting the services.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kelsocorneliusfh.com.
