Betty L. Tarner Obituary

Betty L. Tarner, 97, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. She was born on February 19, 1926 in Huntingdon County to Harry and Odessa Locke. She was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church where she was an organist, pianist and Sunday School teacher. Betty was a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. She was a musical director and pianist for Betty and the Beacons, a musical group that traveled to churches to spread the gospel ministry. Betty loved cooking, baking, canning, traveling, the outdoors and antiques. Betty's belief was that God's way of showing His love is through the love of family and friends and she cherished both.


Betty is survived by son, Terry (husband of Sue) Wible, a sister, Edna Keller and step-daughter-in-law Anna. She is also survived by many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Donald Angelo Wible and Leonard Tarner, son, Ronald Eugene Wible and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Wible, step-son Ronald Tarner, step-daughter Darlene and husband Carl McClure, and step-grandson Devin McClure. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, 360 St. Thomas-Edenville Rd, St. Thomas, PA 17252.
