Betty J. Zimmerman Obituary

Betty Jane Zimmerman, 90, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away February 3, 2024. She was born on November 8, 1933 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Samuel W. and Lillian F. (Stufflet) Daugherty.

 

Betty was an active Christian and was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She was a great homemaker, but also worked outside the home. She worked at Pet-Ritz, F&M Trust and became a licensed realtor. She enjoyed monthly breakfasts with her Pet-Ritz retiree friends. Betty had many hobbies including fiber arts, painting, traveling and singing. She sang in the Mercersburg Area Community Chorus for more than 20 years, most recently in December of 2023.

 

Betty is survived by her husband Robert Zimmerman, daughter Vickie (wife of Randall) Negley, son Stephen (husband of JoAnn) Preisler, eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Jack Daugherty and a sister Shirley Lenherr. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Preisler, two sons Robert and Timothy Preisler, a sister Marian Burkett and a brother Samuel Daugherty.


A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201, with Pastor Matthew Kayhart officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5327 Warm Spring Road, St. Thomas, PA, 17252.
