Blanche Smith Obituary




Blanche A.M. Smith, age 77, of Chambersburg, passed away July 23, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born April 27, 1937 in Nossville, PA to Mirble and Grace (Cisney) Parson. She was married to Daniel G. Smith Jr. She had worked the family farm with her husband until about 1978, when she went to work at Falling Spring Nursing Home as the head of the dietary department. At times in her life she had worked at various other places such as Shook Nursing Home, Wilson College, McCoy Electronics in Mercersburg, the Bon Ton store and was the local Avon lady. She is a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church, Farm Women Group 8, Red Hat Society and the Lioness Club of St. Thomas.
Blanche is survived by her husband, Daniel G. Smith of St. Thomas and their three children: Dana A. North of Melvern, PA, Cindy (wife of John Zeigler) Smith of Dry Run, PA and Harold D. Smith of Greencastle, PA. She has five grandchildren: Josh, Brandi, Heather, Curtis and Andrew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Aruella Parson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Thomas United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Portner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas United Methodist Church, 360 St. Thomas-Edenville Road, St. Thoms, PA. 17252.
