Obituary

On November 10, 2022, Charles J. Greiner, 100, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania was called home to the Lord surrounded by his family. He was born on September 5, 1922, in Fords, New Jersey to Charles and Agnes (Lauritzen) Greiner. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church and the St. Thomas American Legion. Charles loved music (Lawrence Welk and the Big Band Era) and he played his trumpet into his nineties. He was an avid swimmer and swam on a regular basis at the old Howard Johnson, and then spent many years swimming at the Chambersburg Fitness Center, of which he was the oldest member. He bowled in several leagues at Lincoln Lanes and Nellie Fox Bowling Alley. Charles was always there to take anyone, especially his grandchildren, anywhere. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him. 
Charles is survived by his daughters Debora (Mike Martin) Christman and Carol (Gary) Lowe. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Paul (Jen) Pensinger, Ashley (John Wassil) Pensinger, Jonathan (Kaleigh) Lowe, Nicholas (Ece) Lowe, Christopher Lowe and Jason (Jen) Martin, nine great-grandchildren; Amara, Rylan, Landon, Charley, Madison, Olivia, Stella, Asher and Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews. 
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years, Lois L. (Nelson) Greiner. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth, two brothers Lou and Chet, stepbrothers, Joe and Rich, and Chelsea (their beloved schnauzer). 
A funeral service for Charles will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 3:00 PM, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg with Pastor John Kratz officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Services are entrusted to Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg.
