Cheryl Ann (Wilkins) Horn, 76, of Chambersburg, passed away on January 6, 2021, at the Magnolias of Chambersburg memory care unit after a lengthy illness. Born on July 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Frederick B. Wilkins, Sr. and Thelma Wilkins. In 1965 she married William N. Horn, who survives.
She is survived by her son Norman and his wife Joyce of State College, PA; her brother Fred Wilkins and his wife Lynn of Reidsville, NC; her sister Mabel Wilkins of Chambersburg and her sons Jay and Todd; niece Lora (Wilkins) Crump and her husband Derrick of Huntersville, NC; nephew Brant Wilkins, his wife Brandy and their daughter Ava of Yadkinville , NC; as well as several cousins.
Cheryl graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1962. She devoted her early years of motherhood primarily as a stay-at-home mom to Norman, but enjoyed using her natural talents and interest in plants and flowers as a designer at Flowers by Paul-Corbett in Chambersburg. Cheryl was keenly interested in history, particularly that of the Civil War era that played out in the nearby Gettysburg area. She was also fascinated with Native American culture and the Southwest, and enjoyed reading about and traveling to Arizona and New Mexico. She relished family trips in the summer to the North Carolina coast. At home, she spent many hours creating beautiful handmade quilts, crafting needlepoint pieces, and knitting sweaters and scarves that she routinely gave as gifts.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassion and efforts of Cheryl’s many caregivers at Magnolias of Chambersburg and Residential Hospice over the past several years as Alzheimer’s disease took her from us.
Arrangements are under the care of Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. A service will be held later at the discretion of the family. Online Condolences may be made at KelsoCorneliusFH.com
