Christos P. Manikas ,68, of Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2022.

He was born July 19, 1954 in Mataranga, Greece to Panagiotis and Evangelia Manikas. At the age of 13, Chris accompanied by his parents and younger siblings came to the United States in 1967.

Chris got his first job at Louie's Shoe Shine Parlor in downtown Chambersburg, a local haven where people would come for a shine and enjoy a bag of freshly roasted peanuts and an ice-cold bottled Coke. From these humble beginnings, he went on to become the sole proprietor of The Capital Restaurant up until 2016 when he retired. He spent his remaining years at his workshop, where he loved baking, woodworking, and listening to music.

Chris will always be remembered as a master woodworker with an incredible intellect who could offer insight into all aspects of life. He was never one to strive for monotony and for the entirety of his being longed for new challenges and knowledge. Fond of company he was always eager for a discussion, debate, or argument to any passing visitor who dared to stop by.

The true definition of a Renaissance Man. 

Chris was predeceased by his father Panagiotis Manikas, his mother Evangelia Manikas, and his sister Alexandra Polymeros. He is survived by his son Derek Manikas, sister Maria Floropoulos, brother Nikoloas Manikas, and youngest sister Vasiliki Manikas.
