Clyde L. Young

Clyde L. Young, 91,  of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away May 20, 2022 at SpiriTrust Home Care, Chambersburg.  He was born on September 18, 1930  in Guilford Springs, Pennsylvania  to A. Myers and Leah (Shank) Young.  He was married to Wilma Peckman Young on October 6, 1951 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October.  Clyde lived in the St. Thomas-Chambersburg area most of his life.  He was a resident of Luther Ridge Retirement Village for four years.
     Clyde enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and cutting firewood.  Early in life he was a farmer and hauled paper wood.  He was employed by the Charles E. Brake Company, Inc. for 31 years.  After retirement, he had a small firewood business and later enjoyed working for David H. Martin Excavating, Inc.  He was a former member of the Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church, where he served as a trustee.  Later in life he was a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church.
     Clyde is survived by his wife, Wilma Peckman Young.  Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Nancy Young, St. Thomas, a daughter, Carol (wife of Stanley) Gipe of Chambersburg and Timothy B. (husband of Debbie) Young of Chambersburg.  
He has six grandchildren, Trina Gipe (wife of George) Snoke of Chambersburg, , Troy (husband of Sherry) Gipe of Chambersburg, Kevin Young of Arlington, VA.,  Steven (husband of Anna) Young of Annapolis, MD, Grant and Cameron
Young of Chambersburg, as well as nine great-grandchildren: Maekaila, Madelyn, and Morgan Snoke and Aden and Jack Young, and Jarrett, Reece, Max and Lilliana Gipe.  Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Margaretta Young and nieces and
nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lee A. Young and a brother, Myron A. Young.
     Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday May 25, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Chambersburg Bible Church with Pastor David Mummert officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg and one hour prior to the service at the church.  After a meal, interment will be held at 2:30 at Air Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kelsocorneliusfh.com.
