Cynthia S. Walker Obituary

Cynthia “Cindy” Susan Kahle Walker, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, formerly of Silver Spring, MD was welcomed to heaven on 27 June 2025 at Chambersburg Hospital after a long struggle with COPD and a diagnosis of lung cancer at the end.  Cindy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, Nana, and friend and will be missed by many.

Cindy was born in 1938 in Savannah, GA to Miriam Irene Leland Kahle and William Carl Kahle.  She was preceded in death by her two great-granddaughters Victoria Jade & Morgan Hope Welty in 2017 and her 1st child, Cheryl Ann Walker Linebarier in 2020.  She is survived by her brother David William Kahle, former husband William Edward Walker, children Jefferson Blaine Walker and Constance Suzanne Walker, 4 grandchildren – Leigh, Kaitlin, Harrison & Nora, and 4 great-grandchildren – Alivia, Wyatt, Christopher (CJ), & Ryker.

Cindy was raised in the church and took her children regularly.  It was at church that she met her best friend, Barbara Burns.  The Walker & Burns families had children the same ages and spent time together regularly after church.

While raising her family, Cindy had a 19.5 year career as a cashier at the local Co-op/Safeway grocery store and was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers union.  She loved popcorn and would make huge batches to hand out for Halloween.

After retiring, Cindy relocated to Pennsylvania in 1991.  She became active in the St. Thomas United Methodist Church until her passing.  She was also a member of the local Ruritan Club and Red Hat Society for many years.  Cindy loved to travel and was a member of the F&M Trust Bank “Go Club”.  She also loved games and in recent years, would spend one or two days a week playing at the Senior Center.  Cindy made many good friends at all of these organizations over the years.

Cindy was ready for the next stage of her life and recently moved into a nice apartment in Providence Place.  She was looking forward to making new friends and having an active social calendar.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cindy’s memory can be made to the American Lung Association.  A memorial service in celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, 30 July 2025 at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home at 725 Norland Ave.
