Daryl James Branche, Jr.

Daryl James “DJ” Branche, Jr., of Saint Thomas, unexpectedly passed away on February 20, 2020. He was preceded in death by grandparents – Gary Keith of Mercersburg, Ralph Spencer of West Virginia, and Sarah Branche of Chambersburg.

Born May 20, 1992, a son of Daryl James Branche, Sr. (late wife Nancy) and Elizabeth Tiny Moore (boyfriend Travis Disney) all of Chambersburg.

DJ was known for his infectious smile, goofy laugh, and had the unique ability to form genuine relationships with everyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed snowboarding, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. DJ was an outstanding athlete from an early age. He had an undeniable passion for football. He played six seasons of semi-pro football with the Franklin County Tigers, and had most recently signed a contract with the Hanover Rhinos for the upcoming spring 2020 season. DJ’s stats include 253 tackles, 21 sacks, and 2 touchdowns during his 6 years with the Tigers. The tackles and sacks are both Franklin County franchise records, including a career-best 95 tackle season in 2017.

Along with his parents, DJ is survived by five children, Mahayla (7), Madison (6), Isaiah (4), Kaine (21 months), and Kinley (8 months); girlfriend, Brooklyn Johnson of Saint Thomas; four siblings, Terrell Moore and wife Heidi, Donte Moore and girlfriend Megan Leidy all of Delaware, Alicia Houser, Kynsey Branche both of Chambersburg; maternal grandmother, Betty Spencer, and maternal great-grandmother, Mary Spencer both of Mercersburg; paternal grandfather, William Brown of Harrisburg; four aunts, Candy Spencer of Virginia, Alista Henry and husband Neville, Sherry Martinez, Mary Penny Branche all of Chambersburg; four uncles, Greg Branche of Harrisburg, Randy Branche and wife Darlene, Sean Branche and wife Mary, Sterling Branche, all of Chambersburg; in addition to numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in Chambersburg, PA. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM. A graveside service will follow at Lebanon Cemetery.
