Daryl E. Parson Obituary

Daryl E. Parson, 78, of Ft. Loudon, passed away February 25, 2025 at his home. He was born April 22, 1946, in Blairs Mills, PA, at home, to Elder J. and Elsie E. (Gipe) Parson. 

 

Daryl is survived by his companion Donna Barton, daughters; Tangela (Terry) Gibbons and Denise (Andy) Shatzer, grandchildren; Austen Shatzer, Emma (Heath) Hissong, Matt (Mary-Kate) Mumper and Rachel Mumper, brother; Chris (Deb) Parson, brother-in-law; Raymond Neil, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings; Matilda Gray, LaRue (Dave) Crouse, Dorothy (Clair) Hockenberry and Shelby Neil.

 

Daryl enjoyed hunting, bluegrass/gospel music, square dancing, dirt track racing and tinkering around being creative in woodworking, metals and repurposing. He served in the Navy as a Seabee from 1965 until 1969, completing two tours in Vietnam. After serving in the military, Daryl worked at DeRose Industries and then later retired from Ingersoll-Rand/Volvo. 

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Freedom Lighthouse Ministries, 96 Path Valley Rd, Ft. Loudon, with Pastor James Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, as well as one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Daryl’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Path Valley Stag Club/Gospel Music Friday Nights.
