David “Dave” S. Shannon, 83, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in the care of Mercy House Hospice. Born on August 12, 1941, in Cornwall, NY. Dave was preceded in death by his parents James Shannon and Elizabeth Stewart Shannon as well as his older brother, Jim Shannon.
Dave was raised in Newburgh, NY and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy on June 24, 1959.
Dave served his country in the United States Army and upon his discharge from the military, Dave relocated to the Washington, DC area and joined the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Force where he attained the rank of Seargent and retired after 28 years on the job in 1988. Dave was an avid automobilia collector and dealer and was a regular at the various Carlisle and Hershey, PA car shows for several years. Dave and his wife, Christine “Chris” relocated to Fayetteville, PA in 2002 where they continued heir passion for collecting and selling collectibles and on Friday nights, they were regulars at Kenny’s Auction. The saying “he never met a stranger” describes Dave perfectly as evidenced by the many friends he made along the journey.
In addition to his wife Chris, Dave is survived by his brother Michael Shannon, his sister Loretta Klein and several nieces and nephews.
Dave was the guy that was a friend to all, and he will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him.
Dave’s wishes are to be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be later determined. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
