Donald R. Anliker

Donald Ray Anliker, age 82, passed away on November 16, 2024, at his home in Fayetteville, PA. Don was born March 26, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois to Matthew and Lola Anliker. 

He was the beloved husband of Julia Heitsch whom he met at Western Illinois University. He spent three years as a shop teacher and then had a thirty-six-year career at IBM.  He sang in numerous church choirs throughout his life, most recently performing with the Mercersburg Choir from 2007 – 2022.

Don enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and completed a class at the Culinary Institute of America while living in Hyde Park.  In retirement, he enjoyed planning adventures with his family and friends to bike, attend a Steeple Chase, and a hike in Estes Park.  Don could be relied on to help his children with gardening and home improvement projects.  He even made several Halloween truck costumes for his grandsons.

Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Julia Heitsch Anliker, his children Matthew (Jennifer) Anliker, Timothy Anliker, and Elizabeth (Jason) Prenoveau, his grandchildren Patrick (Chelsea Ingalls), Zachary and Logan Anliker and Joshua and Elliott Prenoveau, and two brothers Samuel and Thomas Anliker.

There will be a mass at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. 2nd St., Chambersburg, on January 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to Trinity Episcopal Church.
