Donald L. Cormany

SFC (R) Donald L. Cormany passed away at his home on June 3, 2022. He was born November 18, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA to Guy and Esther (Bietsch) Cormany. He graduated from Chambersburg Area High School in 1955. He married Janice L. (Sluser) Cormany on October 26, 1958. Janice preceded him in death on August 23, 2005.

Donald later married Dixie L. (Secrest) Cormany in July 2013 (deceased August 15, 2017).

Donald retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1997, where he worked as a welder for 35 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was a vet of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His military service included the US Air Force 1954-1963, the US Army 1974-1994, and the US Army Reserve.

He loved his family and his country. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and walks in the mountains. He was a member of the Chambersburg American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindi R. (Cormany) Martin (wife of Ellis P.  Martin, II), two grandchildren (Trisha N. Leopold and Ellis (Butch) P. Martin III, married to Nikki), and three great-grandchildren (Caitlin Fagan, Brandis Martin, and Rylee Martin).

He was preceded in death by his parents and three older siblings, Thomas G. Cormany, Ida (Ike) M. Small, and Harriet (Dumps) Cormany.

A private graveside service with military honors will be attended by family and friends.
