Dorene Marie Miller Timmons, age 84, of Chambersburg PA, has passed on to eternal life on July 25, 2022. Dorene was the daughter of the late John F. Miller and Fanny Rebuck Miller Myers.
Dorene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Luther Timmons; their children Natalie Beth Hollingworth and husband Richard, Bryan Todd Timmons and wife Kimberly, and Michelle Heidi Walls; grandchildren Tara Guhr Lee and husband Mackenzie, Taylor Guhr, Andrea Hollingworth, Ann Marie Timmons, and Sarah Jae Timmons; great grandchildren Matthias and Gaius Lee; her sisters Linda Miller Gettys and Sharon Miller Dunn; her nieces and nephews Craig Stepler, Doug Stepler, Lynette Widney, Wayne Widney, Michael Dietrich, Lisa Dietrich Mellot and Eric Dietrich.
Dorene, a resident of Chambersburg, PA, went to Saint Thomas Township High School and Chambersburg Area Senior High School. As a student, she played clarinet in both marching bands and sang in the Glee Club. She also volunteered as a Candy Striper for the Chambersburg Hospital. She graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School with a secretarial diploma. After graduation, she worked for the Chambersburg Hospital.
Dorene dedicated her married life to being a devoted wife, raising three children, and working at Oliver Oil Company while spending her time with God at King Street United Brethren Church. In her spare time, Dorene enjoyed several activities. She planned vacations to historical locations in the United States. Dorene adored the German language and took adult continuing education classes at Wilson College. Dorene traveled with Marvin to many European countries. In Germany, she visited family friends in her favorite town of Wurzburg. When she wasn’t traveling or entertaining her grandchildren, grandnieces, and nephews, she invested her time playing clarinet for the Shippensburg Town Band. Dorene was also a member of the New Life Sunday School class of King Street United Brethren Church.
Dorene spent her last decade succumbing to the effects of Alzheimer’s. She remained under the care of her husband, Marvin, and the nursing staff of Chambers Point Menno Haven. It is here that she went to sleep on earth but has awakened in heaven.

Viewing will be held at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 from 6 – 8 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Funeral Services, officiated by Pastor Ron Cook, will also be held at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
