Doris Louise Barnes, 92, of Chambersburg, transitioned gently to Heaven with her family by her side on July 10, 2025. She was born March 17, 1933, in St. Thomas, PA, the daughter of William and Isabel (Leedy) Ferry. Doris attended St. Thomas High School. She was a member of the St. Thomas Lutheran Church where she faithfully sang in the choir. Doris was a member of the St. Thomas American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout her life she worked at The Stanley Co. and Sears. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband of 74 years, Gerald Barnes, son Dennis (Susan) Barnes, grandchildren; Buffi (Phil) Smith and Ty (Stacy) Barnes, great-grandchildren; Wyatt, Chance, Cheyenne, Amber, Austyn, Destiny and Hunter, and great-great-grandchildren; Bentley, Beau, Alora, and Afton. Doris was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Bob Ferry, Donald “Stump” Ferry, Gladys Mull and Betty Wilson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at St. Thomas Cemetery with Pastor Matthew Kayhart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doris’ name may be made to the St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
