Doris “Dorrie” F. Ferry, 89, of Chambersburg, passed away November 10, 2024. She was born December 21, 1934 in Chambersburg  to Mildred (Gift) Finafrock and J. Knoll Finafrock. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1952. She was married on June 28, 1952 to Earl R. Ferry. As a newlywed, she worked as a switchboard operator at the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, IL, where her husband was a student. Upon their return to Pennsylvania, she briefly worked at the Stanley Company, Gillan’s Orchard, Knouse Foods and provided childcare in her home. 

Dorrie was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, where she attended since birth. Earlier in life she was a member of Weight Watcher’s, St. Thomas Fire Auxiliary, and the Chambersburg Fitness Center for many years. She enjoyed watching QVC, news, professional basketball, food network, listening to the country western channel, and doing word search puzzles. She loved birds, and had a large collection of cardinal and chicken items. She loved dogs, owning a few throughout her life, and currently enjoyed visits from her granddog Gretchen. 

Dorrie is survived by her husband of 72 years, Earl R. Ferry, brother; Robert E. Finafrock, four children; Cynthia Weber, Inga Smith, Julian (husband of Alice) Ferry and Avery (husband of Ka Kee) Ferry, one grandson Dr. Andrew J. F. Smith, five step-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dorrie was preceded in death by several in-laws. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg, with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorrie’s name may be made to the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.
