Obituary
Elaine Ruth (Runk) Cornelius, 88, of Bernville, Pennsylvania, passed away January 31, 2023. She was born at home, in Cherry Grove, Pennsylvania, on January 28, 1935, to the late Denver S. Runk and Mary Brown Runk. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and mother, Elaine was a seamstress at the Sagner Sewing Factory in McConnellsburg, a cook at the Boy Scout Camp Sinoquipe and an alternative postal delivery person at the USPS. She was a member of the Clear Ridge United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the WSCS and always helped with the festivals at the community building.
Elaine is survived by two daughters, Melissa Murphy of Bernville, PA and Robin Walraven of Wichita, Kansas, a son, Tom Cornelius of Laureldale, PA, a sister, Bonnie David of Harrisburg, PA, a brother, Reed Runk of Chambersburg, PA, as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cornelius and her brother, James Runk. Elaine was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.
