Ellen Marion Stewart Guercio Riggs

Ellen Marion Stewart Guercio Riggs, 86, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away October 16, 2023, at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1937, in Weems, Virginia to Clyde and Anna (Essig) Stewart.

Ellen was very family oriented and a devout Christian. She was a member of the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed writing letters, nature, bird watching, skiing, gardening and reading. 

Ellen is survived by her husband of 32 years; Robert A. Riggs, daughters; Joy Cassens and husband Glenn, and Alison Baker, grandchildren; Dale Madairy, Cara Cassens Flores and Colin Cassens, great-granddaughters; Yasmine Madairy, Hayden Flores and Lucy Flores, sister; Carolyn DesBois, step-sons; Anthony Sommer, Charles Sommer and James Sommer, brother-in-law; David Riggs and sister-in-law; Kathy Dowica. 

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years; Francis Guercio, daughter; Theresa (Guercio) Moreland, parents; Clyde and Anna Stewart, brothers; Clyde Stewart, David Stewart, Robert Stewart and Ben Stewart, and sister; Dorothy Carr, Katherine Ashburn and Gertrude Nash. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 10:30 AM, at Shippensburg Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at St. Johns Church Cemetery, Hydes (Long Green Valley), Maryland, next to her husband Francis Guercio and with her daughter, Theresa (Guercio) Moreland's cremains.
