Emilie M. Reed passed away on June 15, 2025, in Chambersburg, PA.

She was born on March 25, 1942, in Tazewell County, Virginia to Bessie and Roy Janey Sr. Emilie worked in a sewing factory for many years. She was a proud member of the New Hope Bible Church in Bassett, VA. She was a part of a card ministry with her church and family. Emilie loved to cook and bake and enjoyed celebrations of special occasions. She loved her family more than anything and would put anyone else before herself.

Emilie is survived by her son Gene Reed Jr of Thomasville PA, daughter Tammy Reed of Chambersburg PA, brother Roy “Buddy” Janey Jr (Martha), grandchildren Alex Fields, Ian Fields, Kara Brown (Jeremi) and great-grandchildren Debbie Fields, Seylah Brown and Elara Brown, as well as some very close family friends who also called her mom, Joe Garcia, Connie Gross, Mary Martin, Diane Eltz, and Terry Dalton.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hamilton Heights God’s Missionary Church, 1699 Johnson Rd, Chambersburg. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service, 3665 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA.
