Ernest D. Tarner, 74, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away June 24, 2021 at home with family by his side. He was born on June 1, 1947 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania to Ernest and Cenith (Griffith) Tarner. For thirty years he was the District Manager of the Franklin County Conservation District prior to his retirement in 2013. He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, where he had served on the board and was a deacon as well as a member of the Reflections Sunday School Class. He loved hunting, snowmobiling, biking and camping.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lee (Clawson) Tarner and their two daughters; Denise Larissa (wife of Doug) Bender of Lancaster and Amy Michelle (wife of Tom) Clark of Sarasota, Florida. Ernie has five grandchildren: Mikaela, Kenzie, Gabe, Abbi and Ella. He is also survived by a sister Cenith Mae and a brother Edward William Tarner.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday July 1, 2021 at 1:00PM at King Street United Brethren Church with Rev. Ronald Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00PM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to King Street UB Church Samaritan Fund, 56 N. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
