Ethel Ruby Obituary


Ethel G. Ruby, age 83, of Fayetteville, passed away March 31, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born December 5, 1930 in Chambersburg, PA to Fred and Grace (Crusey) Frank. She was the widow of the late William D. Ruby, who died on March 18th of this year. Ethel was a member of First Church of God in Chambersburg where she had previously taught Sunday School and volunteered in the nursery. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she had held various offices including chairing the hospital equipment committee. She was a member of the 8- 40 Women’s Group where she had served as president, the Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1599, Amvets Post 224, past member of the Franklin Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and bowled in a league with her husband. She will be remembered for her love of children and her family.
Ethel is survived by her three children: Eugene W. (husband of Bonny) Poe of Chamb ersburg, Debra Ann (wife of Donald) Kunkle of Chambersburg and Bobbi Jo (wife of Andrew) Barnhart of Dillsburg. She has eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Jo Rife, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. with Rev. Lawrence Metzler officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be held at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be sent to First Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
