Evelyn A. (Burkholder) Rock

Evelyn A. Rock, 86, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania passed away May 2, 2023, at home. She was born on January 28, 1937, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Irvin and Ruth (Wingert) Burkholder. Evelyn and her husband, Thomas, married October 11, 1958. They were married 50 years before he passed away October 16, 2008. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church of Edenville since 1967. She loved the Lord and cared for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a joy to her.   

Evelyn is survived by four children, Melvin (husband of Sharon) Rock of St. Thomas, Mark (husband of Janet) Rock of Chambersburg, Rosanna (wife of Donald) Diller of Hollsopple, Joanna (wife of Zenas) Shildt of Chambersburg and son-in-law Steve (husband of Rhoda) Gehman of Friedens, PA. She has thirty-one grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, siblings Galen (husband of Ruby) Burkholder and Janet Byers. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. Rock, daughter Twila Gehman, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother-in-law, Ray Byers.    

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Portico River Brethren Meeting House with the ministry of the Emmanuel Fellowship Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 2:00 till 4:00 PM and 6:00 till 8:00PM at the Portico River Brethren Meeting House. Interment will be held at Brechbill Cemetery. The family requests the omission of flowers. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg will be handling the arrangements.
