Evelyn Lorraine (Mills) Scott

Evelyn Lorraine (Mills) Scott, 93, of Providence Place and formerly of 228 Mill Road, Chambersburg, died the morning of 15 January 2022.

Born 25 March 1928, in Peters Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Nellie and Ralph Mills.  She was a 1947 graduate of Greencastle - Antrim High School.  On 25 September 1954, she wed Alvin “Scotty” Scott. They were married more than 55 years before his death on 21 January 2011.

Evelyn was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, where she served as a greeter and communion assistant, for over 65 years. For nearly 22 years, she worked at the former Sears Roebuck and Company on South Second Street in Chambersburg, retiring in 1991.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and homemaking. In her early adult life, she was active in a Franklin County bowling league.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter Lorinda Scott-Clopper, who died 24 July 1997.  She is survived by two granddaughters whom she and her husband raised – Bridget (Clopper) Bailey and Janell (Clopper) Edgell.
