Garnet Wayne Shoop, 89, of Spring Run, PA passed away September 14, 2020 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1931 in Orrstown , PA to Wendell and Elsie (Hoover) Shoop. He was married for 60 years to Geraldine (Hammond) Shoop. He was a Navy Korean War veteran and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot after 40 years of service. He was passionate about woodworking, carpentry, fire company chicken bbq's and maintaining the Hammond's Grove picnic area. He was a life time member of the Fannett-Metal Volunteer Fire Company and a life member and past Commander of American Legion Post 232.
Garnet is survived by his son Ronald Shoop (wife Kathy) and daughters Dotty Robinson and Virginia White. He is also survived by grandchildren Jason Robinson (April), Tiffany Shoop (Nathan) and LaRae Hege (Allan) and great grandchildren Paige and Jenna Hege. In addition, he is survived by sister Marjorie Killian.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brothers Wendell Jr., Harold, Donald, Joe, Kenneth, Lee; sisters Bernita Vaughn and Betty Clever; and step-son William Berrier.
Funeral services will be at Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, September 22 at 2 PM with Rev. Megan Boozer officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior. Interment will follow at Upper Path Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either Fannett-Metal Volunteer Fire Company (18778 West Dry Run Rd. W.
