Garry William Shatzer Obituary

Garry William Shatzer, 76, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away August 28, 2025. He was born January 22, 1949, in Chambersburg, PA, the son of Harry W. and Mary E. (Perry) Shatzer. Garry volunteered with the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. He worked at Steven’s Elementary and Red Bridge Roller Rink. 

 

Garry is survived by three children; Kimberly (wife of Clay) Trace, Matthew (husband of Jackie) Shatzer and Tammy (wife of Jeff) Shaw, grandchildren; Brook Gladfelter, Bryant Gladfelter, Yvette Starr, Dillon Starr, Preston Forcino, Becca Shaw, Jill Shaw, Cain Shatzer, three great-grandchildren; Riley Gladfelter, Ryker Stevens, Rhett Stevens, sister, Karen (wife of Thomas) Diehl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Shockey) Shatzer, as well as daughter Kathy Shatzer. 

 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Garry’s name may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
