Gary E. Gelsinger, 81, passed away July 31st, 2025. Gary was born in Chambersburg on May 22, 1944. He was the son of the late Erma M. Burkholder (Keyser) and his stepfather John F. Burkholder Sr.Gary was proud to be a long-term employee of the Borough of Chambersburg for 38 years . He was employed from June 1970 until he retired in June 2008. He was especially proud of having the responsibility of turning on the water for the fountain in downtown Chambersburg and helped decorate it for the different seasons. Gary had many interests in life. In his younger years he played bass guitar in a band called Blue Denim. He volunteered for the Franklin Fire Company and drove the Medic truck. He was coach of the Chambersburg Cardinals Football team. Gary enjoyed bowling on leagues at Nellie Fox and Lincoln Lanes. He also was on a traveling bowling league. Gary was a United States Army Veteran he served in Germany.
Surviving are his two daughters: Tammy Gelsinger Kauffman and Sherrie Gelsinger , four grandchildren: Brittany (Benjamin Leon III) Gelsinger , Erika Shadd , Michael Gelsinger and Logan Spoonhour , five great grandchildren: Lacey, Benjamin, Zayden, Justin and Zahyair, , two sisters : Joyce Buterbaugh (Clair) and Vicki Myers (Russ) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryant Zeis , sister Donna Rife, brother John Burkholder Jr (JB) and the mother of his children Linda Gelsinger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
