Gerald G. (Jerry) Montgomery, 82, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away July 16, 2021 at home with family by his side. He was born on July 23, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Alex and Ruth (Stewart) Montgomery. He graduated from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh in 1956 and attended Clemson University for one year, where he played football. He then entered the US Army and upon completion of his service he returned to Pittsburgh where he attended the University of Pittsburgh. In 1976 he and his wife returned to Chambersburg, where he began work at Carlisle Syntec Systems in Carlisle, where he later retired in 2000. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing softball, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He also was instrumental in starting softball leagues in the Chambersburg area. After retirement he enjooed working as a ranger at Whitetail Golf Resort.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Snively Montgomery and his four children: Greg (husband of Debbie) Koontz of Douglasville, PA, Carol Gribble of Shippensburg, Karen (wife of Tim) Latsbaugh of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Teresa (wife of Joshua Greene) Montgomery of Chambersburg. Gerald has seven grandchildren; Jessica, Josh, Jasmine, Justin, Ryan, Eliza, Ailsa, and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by a brother, Jack (husband of Marlene) Montgomery of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Montgomery.
