Shorty graduated from James Buchanan High School in 1961. He went on to honorably serve in the United States Navy until April 1966. During his years of service, he was on board the ship, John Paul Jones DD932. After his discharge from the service, Shorty was employed as a machinist at Mack Trucks, Hagerstown where he later retired after 35 years.

Shorty enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Nascar, playing poker, horse racing and camping.  He enjoyed these things with his late wife, Bev, by his side.  Shorty was also a member of the American Legion Post 517 as well as a lifetime member of the VFW of Mercersburg.

While often known to be on the quiet side, Shorty’s actions of love and dedication loudly resound within the memories of his family.
