Helen L. McCurdy

Helen L. McCurdy, 96, of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania passed away March 20, 2023. She was born on July 2, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Russell Hodgkinson and Ruth (Martin) Graham. She lived in St. Thomas from 1928 to 2008 and then moved to Chambersburg.  Helen was a 1944 graduate of St. Thomas High School and a graduate of York School of Cosmetology. She worked many years as a beautician. She was active in boy scouts and in 1965 received the order of merit award. Helen was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years and a charter member of AARP 3261. She worked in retail, retiring after 13 years with J.C. Penny's. 

Helen was married for 55 years to the late J. Richard McCurdy, and they had four sons - R. Andrew (Eve) McCurdy, Linn R. McCurdy, Alan R. McCurdy and Patrick S. (Susan) McCurdy who survive her. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Alaina McCurdy, Sean McCurdy, Ian McCurdy and Elizabath McCurdy and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brother Robert Hodgkinson and sister, Jean Grove,

A funeral service for Helen will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., St. Thomas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA.
