Herbert D. Nuckels, 77, of , Fayetteville passed away January 9, 2022 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He was born on December 20, 1944 in Chambersburg to Herbert and Lora Jean (Hull) Nuckels. Herbert retired in 2011 from Giant Foods where he managed multiple stores including Waynesboro, Gettysburg, and Hagerstown. Since retirement in 2011, he has enjoyed spending time antiquing and going to estate auctions. He was also able to enjoy more time on his art projects and drawings. He was an avid sports fan, with favorite teams being the Detroit Tigers and New York Giants, and followed NASCAR racing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandson and other close friends, shared a hunting camp and cabin in Huntington County with a close friend since 2000. He was a long time member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Pennsylvania Whitetail Association, Buckmasters, and the NRA. He was a member of numerous clubs in the area.
Herbert is survived by his children, Nicole (Jeff) Shields, and Cher Nuckels, grandchildren Brody (Erica) Shields, and Jared Shields, and a great-granddaughter Ellie Kate Shields. He is also survived by his siblings Carol of Chambersburg, and Larry of South Carolina. In addition to his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by a sister, Dona.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Fayetteville Fire Company Community Center. We would like this to be a time of sharing memories and condolences for a great man who touched many lives. Services are entrusted to Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg.
