Hilda Marie Coldsmith, 92, of Pickerington, Ohio, formerly of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania passed away on April 12, 2023, at Violet Springs Health Campus in Pickerington, Ohio. She was born on October 22, 1930, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Arthur and Fannie (Dice) Shatzer.
Hilda was previously employed at the Stanley Company, the U Wanna Wash Frock factory in Fort Loudon as well as the Andrews orchard packing house in St. Thomas. She was a lifetime member of the Edenville United Methodist Church. For many years Hilda and her family enjoyed spending time with dear friends, Dean and Alma Foreman, at their cabin in North Bend, PA (Clinton County). Hilda and her sister, Julia, had such an incredible bond. They loved to spend time together, and their time was often spent socializing at the senior center in Fort Loudon, coordinating church events or shopping in search of bargains at local bump ‘n’ dent stores.
Affectionately referred to as “Meme” by her grandchildren, Hilda was always up for any adventure, and she left many core childhood memories stamped on the hearts of her grandchildren. She rose to every occasion, and tackled every obstacle with a smile and an open heart. Her embodiment of unconditional love, strength, selflessness, and courage was an inspiration to all who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Coldsmith, her daughter, Shirley Ann Thibault, and her siblings, Dorothy Shatzer, Glen Shatzer and Julia Geyer.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Wilma Yoder, of Pickerington, OH; four grandchildren: Nicholas Thibault and Dustin Thibault (Kristy) of Lewes, DE; Kristin Parks (Jamie) of Pataskala, OH; and Kera Kalseth (Scott) of Saint Cloud, FL. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Kaylee & Holdyn Thibault, Alaina & Blakely Thibault, Brady & Kellan Parks, as well as Greyson, Andersen & Weston Kalseth.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral home at 6492 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas with funeral services at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Matthew Kayhart. Interment will follow at the Saint Thomas Cemetery.
