Hubert M. Swartz

Hubert M. Swartz, 93, a resident of Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his home. Hubert was born March 8, 1927 in Shippensburg, PA; the only son of the late Howard W. and Vesta Heberlig Swartz.

Hubert graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1945. On June 24, 1950, Hubert married Orpha I. Hock of Scotland, PA.  His wife preceded him in death on March 24, 2004.
Hubert proudly served in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Hubert worked as an air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic for the Department of the Army at Fort Richie, Site R, for 28-years.Hubert owned and operated a home improvement business specializing in aluminum products for 40 years.

Hubert is survived by his three sons, Edward H. (husband of Lois D.) Swartz of Fayetteville, Thomas C. Swartz, and Ronald L. (husband of Jody M.) Swartz, both of Chambersburg; and a granddaughter, Tori A. Swartz.  Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, and his wife, were his two sisters: Jeanne (Mrs Elmer) Gruver of Chambersburg and Carolyn (Mrs. Paul) Eckenrode of Murrells Inlet, SC.

At Hubert’s request there will not be a public viewing. Due to COVID -19 restrictions, graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family. He will be buried at Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg, PA with Pastor John Pogue officiating.
