J. Earl Frey, 93, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania entered eternal rest on December 25, 2021, receiving his ultimate Christmas gift, at Menno Haven Retirement Community. He was born on June 19, 1928 to John and Ida (Martin) Frey. He was a lifetime member of the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, and served as a trustee and usher for many years. He volunteered with MDS, Cumberland Valley Relief Center, and Menno Haven. Earl was a very successful dairy farmer, with a servant's heart, always ready to help a neighbor.
Earl is survived by three children: Clair Frey of Chambersburg, Joyce (wife of Gerald) Lehman of Chambersburg, and Evelyn (wife of Roy) Bomberger of Lititz, PA. He has six grandchildren: Christopher (Bethany), Katherine (Edward), Rachel, Emily (DJ), Sarah (Corey), and Benjamin, and ten great-grandchildren Ricky, Madyson, Ethan, Laine, Caleb, Olivia, Noah, Lucy, Sophia, and Aaron. Earl is also survived by a sister, Ruth Lehman of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marian M. Frey, a daughter May Ellen, and his sister Mabel Frey.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church with Rev. Jerry Roth officiating. The funeral service will be live-streamed on the Chambersburg Mennonite Church Facebook. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service . Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn for services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Menno Haven Benevolence Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201, or to the Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543 .
