Jane Garland Obituary

Jane worked hard since she was 19, a new wife and mother. She worked for over 25 years at Stanley as a piece rate seamstress, and after it closed, started working for Staples Warehouse in Chambersburg. She was able to retire and spend the last few years with her loving husband Robert J. Garland and as a caregiver and companion to her mother.
She passed away unexpectedly at  home on Sunday, January 9th, after a short illness. She was surrounded by family for her trip home.
Jane was born March 18,1947 in Chambersburg, PA ti Alvin W. Strock, Jr. and Mary Miller Strock. She attended Edenville Elementary and St. Thomas High School. She admittedly was not a good student and hated math. She had to study hard to graduate. She was a lifelong member of Edenville United Methodist Church and was a true believer in her Savior. She was a small town girl and stayed that way during her life.
She was the oldest of four children, Ronald Strock (Kathy), Teresa Hockensmith (Stephen), and Sheryl Young all of Chambersburg. She married Bob on June 18th 1965 in Hagerstown, MD. They were high school sweethearts and had one daughter, Lisa A. Garland Parsons (Martin) on June 13, 1966. Bob would often joke that they had a daughter on the 13th of June and were married on the 16th. It horrified her to no end.
Jane best loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She would spend most Sundays with them. Nicholas A. Parsons (Laurie), Nathaniel R. Parsons (Monique) and Aidiana G. Parsons have special memories that will last a lifetime because she was an involved, guiding and loving Grandmother. She was doubly blessed when she was able to spend time with her great grandchildren Owen R. Parsons and Conrad W. Parsons.
She loved to be outdoors puttering in her flowers. She was a fastidious housekeeper and gave many woodworking projects to her husband to complete over the years. She hosted the family Christmas dinner for many years so the whole extended family could sit down and catch up on their lives. She cherished having her family of grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews close. Well done good and faithful servant.
