Jean E. Houck, 84, of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania passed away November 6, 2020 at Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg. She was born on April 10, 1936 in Dudley, Pennsylvania to John and Hazel (Hess) McCue. She was a graduate of Saxton Liberty High School Class of 1952. She married Edward B. Houck in June 1952. They moved to Franklin County in 1956 and moved to Edenville in 1961. She graduated from the Franklin Co. Vo-tech as a CNA. Jean has been a prominent member of Edenville United Methodist Church and its Adult Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, AD Board and other offices, former volunteer for American Cancer Society, Harrisburg Neighborhood Center Auxiliary, and American Red Cross Volunteer for the Mercersburg Chapter. She had formerly worked at U-Wanna-Wash Frocks, Ft. Loudon, Knouse Foods, Chambersburg, Private duty nursing for nine years, and the Franklin County Nursing Home.
Jean is survived by two children: William Houck of Burnt Cabins, and Sharon Emerick of Chambersburg. She has nine grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Anna (wife of Donald) Fornwalt of Bethel, PA, Urcille Grove of St. Thomas, PA, and Terry Kissinger of Fayetteville. PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Houck, four children; Barbara Bookwalter, James Houck, Janice Statler, Janet Houck, and a sister, Ella Stouffer.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Edenville United Methodist Church, 1639 Apple Way, St. Thomas, PA 17252.
