John Andrew Benfield, Sr.

John Andrew Benfield, Sr., 85, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away November 19, 2024. He was born on October 11, 1939, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Charles and Suma Lida-Jane (Teague) Benfield. John was in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1962. He retired from ABF after 42 years of driving truck under teamsters. 

John is survived by his wife Christine M. (Taylor) Benfield, children Angela L. Benfield, John A. (husband of Heather) Benfield Jr, grandchildren Rory E. Oatman II, Kayla R. Oatman, Dakoda Coy, Kendall M. G. Benfield, Colin M. Sepulveda, great-grandchildren Liam M. Oatman, McKinley E. Oatman, and brother Larry S. (husband of Patricia) Benfield. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by sisters Barbara Holland and S. Anne Jarrett, brother William L. Benfield, daughter Rhonda Boyer, grandson John “Drew” Andrew Benfield III.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg, with Pastor Tim Beitzel officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
