John Leroy Butts

John Leroy Butts, 95, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away May 8, 2023, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. He was born on January 30, 1928, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Paul and Elizabeth (Shearer) Butts. John was honorably discharged from the United States Army where he served until October 19, 1947. He owned a tractor trailer and hauled for Wayne Feed Company. He was a highway contractor with the United States Postal Service for 30 years. John attended the Chambersburg Bible Church on Orchard Drive. 

He is survived by his children, Saundra (wife of Jack) Zeigler, Janice Cooper, Michael (husband of Cheree) Butts, and Michelle (wife of Keith) Sheeley, grandchildren; Richard (husband of Shannon) Alloway II, Tara (wife of Kevin) Barnhart-Dunkle, Matthew Cooper, Evan (husband of Sabrina) Butts, and Janay (wife of Sean) Gagliardo, great-grandchildren; Nicholas Shindledecker and Everett Butts. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Patricia L. (Miller) Butts who passed away January 16, 2023. 

A funeral service will be held on May 18, 2023, at 7:30 PM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg with Rev. Garnet Myers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
