John Sunday Irvin, 93 passed away peacefully Wednesday July 22, 2026 at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation in Chambersburg, PA. He was formally a long time resident of Amberson, PA.

Born August 28, 1932 he was the son of the late Bruce A. and Mary J. Irvin.

John was a faithful member of Spring Run Bible Church. He retired from Letter Kenny Army Depot.

He also loved music, you could find him just about every Friday night at the local “jam session”. He started his own business “Peak Records”. He ran sound for the church and the local fair. If you had a problem with a sound system, John was the one to fix it.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Kirby Irvin (Princess) on February 18, 2011; his siblings, Helen Briggs, Mildred Eckstine, Frank Irvin, Loretta Kubik and Don Irvin.

Surviving are his two sons, John Irvin Jr and Roger Irvin, wife Nancy. Five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; Niece Cindy Weikle and husband Bobby, Nephew Kirby Hall, many other nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Pastor John Semple. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 27th at the Kelso – Cornelius Funeral Home in Chambersburg, PA with Pastor John Semple officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until time of service.

Burial will be held Wednesday, July 29th 2026 at the Mt Hermon Baptist Church in Sarton, WV.

The family would like to thank the staff at Laurel Lakes and Celebration Villa for the care and compassion they showed John while he was there.
