John Henry Maljevac passed away peacefully in his home on January 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on June 13, 1947, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, John’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and kindness.
 
John held a special place in his heart for his grandmothers, who shaped him with their love and called him Yanko. Their memory remained a cornerstone of his character and values, which he passed down to the generations that followed.
 
John’s professional life was marked by a commitment to science and environmental stewardship. As a chemist for the Bureau of Laboratories within the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, he worked tirelessly to protect the health and well-being of his community. His meticulous work and passion for his field left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
 
John was a man of deep devotion—to his family, his friends, and the love of his life, Joan E. Maljevac. Married for many cherished years, John’s heart was broken when Joan passed away on January 25, 2007. Their reunion in eternity is a comfort to those who grieve his passing. Together again, their love story continues beyond the boundaries of this world.
 
The pride and joy of John’s life was his beloved granddaughter, Addisyn Brookhart. He adored Addisyn more than words can express, delighting in her laughter, her achievements, and the light she brought to his life. For Addisyn, the memory of her “Nonny” will always be a source of unwavering support and inspiration.
 
John is survived by his daughters Cheryl Little and Cynthia Brookhart, granddaughters Addisyn and Audrey Brookhart, and his three sisters Roxanne, Sue, and Joanne.
 
From his time as a Vietnam-Era Marine to his bachelor life, always waiting for phone calls from his Addisyn, and everything in between, John leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and a life well-lived. Though his presence will be profoundly missed, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
