Joseph E. Tarner, 89, of McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away October 24, 2022 at the extended care unit of the Fulton County Medical Center. He was born on May 13, 1933 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to Ira and Marie (Byers) Tarner. He had retired from Harmon"s Furniture in Chambersburg. Joe is a member of St. Thomas Assembly of God Church. He is a member of Blue Lodge in Waynesboro and Shriners of Harrisburg. He served in the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the St. Thomas American Legion.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Jean Mellott Tarner of McConnellsburg. He is also survived by his loving family, Stephen and Sandy Zimmerman, two granddaughters; Jamie Bowers and Ashley Zimmerman, and two great-grandchildren; Haven and Andon Bowers. He is the last of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Nov. 1, 2022 at 11:00AM at the St. Thomas Assembly of God Church with Rev. Joshua Baldwin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg has been entrusted with conducting the services.
