Joyce E. Bachman Obituary

Joyce E. Bachman, 85, of Fayetteville passed peacefully at home in her sleep into the arms of our Lord and Savior during the early morning hours of December 27, 2024, with her beloved husband Ralph by her side. She was born May 16, 1939 in Freeburg, PA, the daughter of the late Henry and Esther (Shaffer) Moyer.

On August 14, 2024 she and Dad celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. To this blessed union were born children, Russel (Terica) Bachman, Daniel (Stacie) Bachman, Rebecca (David) Keller and John (Crystal) Bachman. In addition, left to mourn her passing are grandchildren Cole (Taylor) Bachman, Grace Bachman, Gretchen (Alejandro) Ortiz, Joey (Kiersten) Bachman, Corey Bachman, Audrey Keller, Olivia Keller, Sophie Keller, and great grandchild Laroux Ehley. She is also survived by brothers Gerald “Butch” (Inka) and Gary (Karen) Moyer, sister Sandy (Marshall deceased) Keiser and sister in law Delores Moyer. Passing before her were her parents and brothers Henry “Son”, George (Barbara deceased), Archie, and David Moyer, sister Ruth “Doll” (Antonio deceased) DiDomenico, and half sisters Helen and Betty Herman.

During her time here with us Mom took great pride and joy in taking care of and providing for her family. She loved cooking, sewing, making crafts, attending craft shows, playing bingo and bowling. She was a friend to many. In what Mom called her retirement she worked for a time at the Luther Ridge retirement community. Mom spent her life being a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and home maker. She loved cats, rescued and provided a loving home for many throughout her life.

The family requests that flowers not be sent but instead donations be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Amedisys Hospice Care for their personal attention and genuine concern for Mom during the last 15 months of her life.

Per her wishes, services will be private and reserved to family. She will be laid to rest at the St. John’s Lutheran Ridge Church cemetery in McClure, Pa. with Chaplain Mary Kay Alpaugh officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral home, Chambersburg, PA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.kelsocorneliusfh.com.
