Katherine “Kate” Maude Alberta Shatzer, 88, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away May 18, 2025. She was born June 18, 1936,  in Warfordsburg, PA, to John and Lucy (Mills) Mann. 

Kate enjoyed watching the wide variety of animals in her backyard - deer, turkey, birds and squirrels to name a few. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed crafts of every kind including painting, quilting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles and word games online with her many Facebook friends. She was an excellent cook, always providing memorable Sunday dinners for her family, who will miss her dearly.

Kate is survived by Eugene Shatzer, her devoted husband of 69 years and children; daughter, Teresa Shatzer; son, Dennis, daughter-in-law Paula Shatzer (Dickerhoff); and dear brother Charles Mann and sister-in-law Connie Mann (Clever.) In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by sisters Rose Hill (Mann,) Hazel Fawcett (Mann) and Loretta Verbash (Mann.) 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, with Pastor Delmas Bard officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM as well as on Saturday for one hour prior to the service, both at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
