Lanny Roy Hann Obituary

Lanny Roy Hann, 75, of St Thomas, Pennsylvania courageously but peacefully entered into his eternal rest June 27, 2024, at Chambersburg Hospital after a decade long battle with heart disease. He was born on September 3, 1948, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to Ralph C. Hann and Velma Dell Lightner.

Lanny was a 1967 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School located in Saxton, Pennsylvania.

Immediately following his high school graduation, Lanny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1967-1969 as an active combat member during the Vietnam War and earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Rifle Expert Badge.

Upon completion of his military term, Lanny returned to Pennsylvania. He worked various odds and ends jobs until he settled in at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Lanny was employed here and was honored for his 28 years of service upon retirement. We would also like to acknowledge that during his time with Letterkenny Army Depot, he so selflessly served in a United States Army Support Group in Dammam, Saudi Arabia from May 1991- September 1991.

After Lanny’s retirement from Letterkenny Army Depot, he continued his working career and joined the Cressler Trucking outfit. He gave 7 years of service earning their Driver of the Year Award in 2006.

Lanny received numerous achievement certificates, medals, awards, and recognition for exemplary and outstanding performance over the course of his career(s).

When Lanny wasn’t giving it all to his work, he thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and grandchildren, a good cookout, attending a cash/prize drawing, and tending to his lawn- which had to be the best looking in the neighborhood. Every year at Christmas time we could also count on him to make and deliver his famous peanut butter fudge to friends and family.

Lanny is survived by his three children, James Hann, Dawn Hann, Christina Fisher, and son-in-law Ryan Fisher. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and four siblings, Larry Hann, Cheryl Curfman, Linda Tulowitzki, and Wesley Hann.

In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Jean and John, and one infant grandson, Caleb.

At Lanny’s request, no formal services will be held. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home. A celebration of life and graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

If you would like to make a donation on behalf of Lanny’s life and dedication to service and honor, we encourage you to research Vietnam Veterans Agent Orange Victims Non-Profits to continue the research and support of Agent Orange Victims.
