Lawrence "Larry" A. DiMarco Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” DiMarco passed away July 22, 2025. He was born in Windber, PA, December 28, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Bombina DiMarco. He graduated in 1950 from Windber High School.

Larry served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by a Corning Glass Subsidiary, Corhart Refractories Co., Louisville, KY from 1969 until 1981. He resigned to purchase a manufacturing company in Greentown, PA and remained self-employed until 2000. During that time, he also owned a machine shop in Butler, PA and a beer distributor in Hawley, PA. Larry had a partnership in two mobile home parks in Chambersburg, PA, and with a modular home builder in Greentown, PA. His last business venture was Stonegate Builders in Chambersburg, building town homes, custom homes and modular homes.

With his love for business, Larry became an investor in several businesses and also mentored young entrepreneurs.

His favorite past time was a having a cigar with his friends and solving many of the worlds problems. Other loves of Larry’s were the West and its early explorers, trappers, cattleman and settlers. Vacations included traveling to the West, visiting landmarks and museums. A must was following the Lewis and Clark Expedition from St. Charles, Missouri to the Pacific Ocean. During this time, he collected books, prints and memorabilia of the West.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Mae Mills, Paulis and stepson Steve Gillespie and his wife Bobbie, two granddaughters Erin and Lauren Gillespie, all of Chambersburg, a brother, Robert DiMarco of Burlington, NJ.

A service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA. There will be visitation time from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM, before the service.

Always by Larry’s side was a beloved dog, therefore in lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd, Chambersburg, PA, 17202.

Shirley would like to thank Menno Haven’s Memory Care, as well as Grane Hospice for the care they provided for Larry.
