Lillian Burkholder Obituary

Lillian L. Burkholder, 78, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. She was born November 7, 1946, in Wrightsville, PA, to Richard and Rachel (Keller) Smeltzer. 

 

Lillian was a member of Crider’s United Brethren Church. In earlier years, she worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm. She was an active member of Farm Women’s Group. She also worked at Portico Elementary School in the cafeteria for several years. She enjoyed tandem bike riding with her husband, aerobics with her friends, as well as cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends. 

 

Lillian is survived by two children: Barry Burkholder Chambersburg and Connie (wife of Steve) Johnson of Chambersburg. She is also survived by a son in law, Rich Dangler and four grandchildren: Bethany (wife of Kurt) Eisele of Plantsville, Connecticut, Trent Dangler of Fayetteville, Toby Johnson of Chambersburg and Taylor Johnson of Chambersburg, as well as two brothers Marlyn Smeltzer and Ronald Smeltzer, both of Wrightsville, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Burkholder in 2022, and a daughter, Karen Dangler.

 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Crider’s United Brethren Church with Rev. Ron Cook and Rev. Don Baker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg, as well as one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Interment will be at Brechbill Cemetery in Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crider’s United Brethren Church.
