Lois J. (Eckert) Johns, 85, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away August 29, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 4, 1939, in Chambersburg, PA to Harold and Martha (Shoap) Eckert.
Lois had a gentle soul and a giving heart. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures – sewing, quilting and cooking meals made with love. She had a special gift for caring for others, always putting the needs of her family above her own. Her greatest happiness came from the time she spent with her loved ones, especially her cherished great-granddaughters, whose laughter and smiles brought her endless joy.
Those who knew Lois will remember her warmth, her compassion, and her unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the beautiful memories she created with those she loved most.
Lois is survived by her children; Steven Furry (Dawn), Karen Beaver (Travis), and Kelley Stouffer (Shawn) all of Waynesboro and Son-in-law, Scot Freeman of Kettering OH. Grandchildren; Stephy Scaglione, Tim Freeman (Amanda), Autumn Furry (Andrew), Amber Furry (Kyle), Dalton Beaver, Jenise Keesee (Clayton), Braden Stouffer (Dani Kaye) and Logan Stouffer; 6 great-granddaughters, 5 great-grandsons, many step grand and step great- grandchildren; Brother, Terry Eckert and sister-in-law Gerry Eckert; and beloved cousins.
Lois also had the privilege of helping to raise 8 step-children, whom she loved as her own. Virginia Snively (Mike), Ron Johns (Betsy), Tina Smetzer (Andy), Harry “Sonny” Johns III (Melinda), Joel Johns (Deanne), Jeanine Ludy (Ben), and Charlene Harville (Lynn) and the late Braden Johns (Kay).
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her twin brother Larry Eckert, brother Gary Eckert, daughter Susan Freeman, step-son Braden Johns, one Grandson-in-law, Matt Scaglione, and her late husbands Charles Furry and Harry “Sonny” Johns, II.
Private graveside services for immediate family will be held on September 26th at 2:00pm, Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg PA. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 28th, Noon – 4pm at The Counting House, Waynesboro PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lois’ name may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
